A third derby meeting between these sides saw Pensilva turn-in one of their best displays of the season on Tuesday last. Previous honours were even with Menheniot winning the League encounter but Pensilva clinching the junior cup tie.

Impressive Menheniot were pushing for promotion and needed a win to keep them in contention.

Pensilva manager Mike Swimburne made an amusing and inspirational pre-match talk. He also dropped and changed the side calling up impressive second teamers Jimmy Miles, Colin Treeby and Darren Worden. He also handed back the keeper's jersey to Dave Hicks.

After 30 minutes Colin Swinburn opened the scoring. Pens were defensively sound throughout with Paul Firth marshalling well and Miles and Dubobbin making their mark on the game.

Chris Evans grabbed a second with a thumping 20 yard free kick after 58 minutes.

Menheniot hit the bar as did Pen's Worden with a screamer. Later there was an audacious effort from Jonny Firth whose halfway line effort was reminiscent of the famous Pele effort of Mexico 70.
