The Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Board has sent out a clear message to all its players that bad behaviour will not be tolerated. The Board decided, at last week's monthly meeting, to withhold the registrations of both Ben Douglas and Lee Whetter until the end of the 2010-11 campaign.
Douglas and Whetter both pleaded guilty to the charge of assault in the final minutes of the St Austell v. Newquay Division One West League game at Poltair Park on Saturday, October 17.
The incident gained national coverage, after the two players had entered the stand at Poltair to confront Newquay supporters, and this led to the Cornwall County FA banning them both for 140 days and fining them £100 each, with the players agreeing to undertake 40 hours work on a football project in the St Austell area that would be supervised by the local police.
