PREMIER DIVISION
St Blazey 3
Plymouth Parkway 1
ST Blazey had the desire to win this Wednesday evening game and keep alive their record of never having lost to Parkway in the old South Western or the Peninsula Leagues.
Saints' manager Bobby Oaten had every right to
be right to be pleased with the result and, in particular, the manner in which it was achieved.
'We certainly wanted the game more than Parkway – and the scoreline did not flatter us as they finished a well-beaten side,' said Oaten.
'The second half was superb and we took our chances well, but special mention must go to Danny Zalick who played up front on his own for the last half-hour and was superb.'
A tepid first period was quickly forgotten when the Green & Blacks took the lead on 50 minutes; Danny Zalick raced down the right before firing in a cross that Paul Cox crashed into the roof of the net from eight yards.
A second followed ten minutes later when Luke Rundle's cross-cum-shot hit Jamie Morrison-Hill to loop over goalkeeper Simon Zinn. Saints completed their scoring on 80 minutes when more good play on the left flank ended with the cross finding Zalick free to shoot pass Zinn from ten yards.
Parkway's late consolation came from Andy Sargent's speculative effort that went in off the far post six minutes from time.
