On the weekend of July 22 and 23, Bodmin’s historic barracks will come to life with the Victorian-era living history group, Number 1 Depot Company.
The group will be setting up their authentic Victorian military camp at Bodmin Keep, home of Cornwall’s Regimental Museum.
All weekend the men of Number 1 Depot Company will eat, sleep and carry out the day-to-day activities of soldiers in a garrison artillery regiment. They will be on hand to talk with visitors and answer their questions about military life, their kit, uniform, drill and weaponry. Visitors are invited to step back in time and explore their camp, see their rifle and bayonet displays and find out what life was like in the British Army during the golden age of the British Empire.
Bodmin’s Grade II listed Victorian Keep is the historic home to Cornwall’s regiment, the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry.
