Athletics - East Cornwall ladies do well at St Eval
Seventy-six runners competing in the Cornwall 10km road race on Sunday. This race is an annual event held at RAF St Eval and incorporates the County of Cornwall 10k Road Race Championships.
As is the norm over the last few years the weather proved to be very hot for this almost flat course, an almost unique occurrence for road races in Cornwall. The event was well organised by Newquay Road Runners and had an extensive prize list due to numerous sponsor's and supporters. It was also nice to see a few new faces as runners on holiday decided to compete before taking to the beaches.
First to finish was Martin Rush from Bideford AC in a time of 30:53, Rob Wise from Westbury Harriers finished second in 31 :34, one second in front of Stuart Hall from Tipton Harriers. The first lady to finish was Vicky Pincombe from Minehead in a time of 38:50, Jess Hoskin from East Cornwall Harriers was second finishing in 39:36 (she was also the first ECH home!), third place went to Helen Pearson from Cornwall AC in a time of 41:24. Revis Crowle from ECH was fifth lady back in a personal best time of 42:00.
