Artists in South East Cornwall are encouraging the public to visit them at work - and to have a go at getting creative themselves.
Open Studios is an annual art trail where artists, photographers, potters, sculptors and jewellery makers throw open their doors for the half term holiday.
In Downderry, four artists have come together to take part in the event - and two are putting on workshops.
Printmaker Beth Munro is based at the Front Road Studio and says that her work is predominantly inspired by nature, the landscape and wildlife. She’ll be running an introduction to block printmaking workshop on Sunday (May 26).
Sharing studio space with Beth is Jess Sneyd, whose quirky mosaics are created from crockery, tiles and found items.
Meanwhile, welcoming the public to the Lower Road studio at Wavecrest are printmaker Sarah James and painter Claudia Hocking. Claudia’s workshop ‘playing with pastels’ will be running on Wednesday and Friday.
The studios are both based centrally in the village and close to the beach - and Jess says a tour makes an ideal afternoon out, as families with children are welcome.
Open Studios begins tomorrow (May 25) and will run until June 2. Studios are open from 11am - 4pm Monday-Saturday and 12-4pm on the Sundays.
