A BRIDE-to-be was towed to her wedding through the snow by a good samaritan in a 4x4.

As treacherous conditions swept in to the Rame Peninsula on Wednesday, Chris Boal helped 16 drivers out of a sticky situation on the icy and impassable lanes.Stranded driver Linda Rixon described Chris as an 'angel'.Another of those affected on the Whitsand Bay cliff road was a bride on her way to Polhawn Fort, where she went ahead with her wedding on Thursday despite some of the worst weather conditions recorded in the region in recent years.

Staff at the Fort were pulling out all the stops to make sure the couple, from Wales, could enjoy their special day.

Quad bikes were at the ready to bring the registrars to the historic venue, which stands on the cliffs at the far end of the Bay.

A spokesperson for Polhawn Fort spoke to the Cornish Times as we went to press on Thursday.

‘Luckily all of the guests arrived on Wednesday and managed to get into the Fort before the ice really set in. The florist managed to get in early - she lives on the Peninsula, and her husband drove her in using one of their farm vehicles.’

Polhawn Fort said that the couple and their guests, who were mostly from Wales, had been invited to stay over the weekend until it was safe to make the journey home.
