'Lay off Adams' is the appeal from Argyle manager Bobby Williamson after fans were heard booing his name before the Crewe Alexandra match. 'I don't think our supporters should boo anybody. These guys, not just Steve, are proud to play for the club. 'For some reason certain fans have targeted Adams for even the simplest of things.' With two championship medals in his pocket, Adams, who lives in Saltash, was regarded by former manager Paul Sturrock as being the first player on his team sheet. Never a flamboyant player, Adams fits nicely into any midfield through his ability to do the simple things right without being showy. The unassuming 24 year old has made 141 appearances scoring seven goals. Adams put in another good performance for Argyle in their 3-0 win over Crewe Alexandra, in a starting line-up that included nine of Sturrock's promotion winning team. One player who won't be called up again is striker Marino Keith. The 30-year-old Scot moved on a free transfer this week to struggling Coca-Cola One side Colchester United. 'He's a model professional and I'll be sorry to see him go,' said Williamson. Marino's opportunities of first team football have been made more difficult,' added the boss, who has brought in strikers Dexter Blackstock, Nick Chadwick, Scott Taylor and Steve Milne. Milne has been slowly regaining fitness and put in a 70-minute stint for the reserves in Tuesday's 0-0 draw against Cheltenham, alongside Cornish youngsters Chris Reski and Ryan Dickson. There are strong rumours that Argyle are showing an interest in Scottish international David McNamee. The 24-year-old Livingston defender will be out of contract at the end of the season and is expected to help his club avoid relegation from the Scottish Premier League. Central defender Graham Coughlan made history in scoring Argyle's first goal in the 3-0 victory over Sheffield United. It was the 3,000th goal scored in the Coca-Cola League this season in the Coca-Cola Goal chase. The sponsors have promised to donate £1 million among the league's 72 clubs to spend on an apprentice, or up and coming player. Argyle's 3-0 victories over Sheffield United and Crewe have boosted the fans confidence as the fight to avoid relegation continues. A result at Derby County tomorrow to avenge the 2-0 home defeat against the Rams will certainly boost them even further. Derby came from behind to draw 3-3 with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday. Williamson has a tricky selection problem to make for the Pride Park match. It would be difficult to change the team that has done so well after the 5-0 defeat at West Ham United. Tony Capaldi has served his suspension and will come into contention, as will Matt Doumbe who had to sit out the Crewe match due to suspension, leaving Hasney Aljofree to partner Graham Coughlan at the centre of the defence. Keith Lasley and Bjarni Gudjonnson will also be looking for a starting place, as will Scott Taylor who scored the last goal against Crewe, although injured players David Worrall, Lee Hodges and Steven Milne are not expected to be considered. Paul Wotton celebrated 10 years at the club by attending a testimonial dinner at Plymouth's Moat House Hotel. Main speaker was Alan Ball with former Argyle striker Paul Boardman providing the main entertainment. The Argyle captain has played over 300 games for the club scoring 45 goals. The reserves are at Swindon Town next Tuesday for a Pontins Holiday Combination League fixture. A victory could put them top of the league. The U18s make their second appearance in a Merit Table match at Harpers Park against Portsmouth tomorrow. Argyle Ladies suffered a 5-3 defeat against unbeaten league leaders Reading Royals. They will be looking to get back to winning ways at bottom club Reading Ladies on Sunday. Fixtures - Coca-Cola Championship: Sat Mar 5 Derby County (A) 3pm. Reserves: Tues Mar 8 Swindon Town (A) 2pm.
