FARMERS from around the county will be hoping to collect some silverware at the 98th annual Liskeard and District Prime Stock Show which takes place in the Cattle Market tomorrow morning, October 26.
As is tradition the Liskeard event is the first of the winter shows in the south west, and is a good indication to judges of the quality to expect in the showing season.
This year’s president is Heather Kitto, and show chairman once again is Menheniot beef farmer Mervyn Rowe.
With open and local cattle and sheep classes, as well as classes for Young Farmers Club members, there has been a good number of entries so far, said secretary for the market classes James Moon.
Organisers have encouraged more sponsors to take stalls at this year’s show, and there will be displays of farming machinery and agricultural products.
Domestic classes for the Liskeard Prime Stock Show will once again be at the town’s Eliot House Hotel which is open to the public from 10.30am on show day.
Colourful displays of grain, potatoes, vegetables, eggs, cookery, floral art, handicrafts, painting, and children’s and young adult classes, attract hundreds of entries, and many visitors make a beeline for the event.
Presentation of cups will take place at 3.30pm on show day.
