POLICE are investigating after an “unknown liquid” was allegedly thrown at a woman by occupants of two different cars in Torpoint.
The woman had just walked off the Torpoint Ferry on Monday evening (August 17) when she was reportedly targeted by an occupant of a red car.
She later told police that someone in a second vehicle, believed to be black, also threw liquid at her in the Fore Street area.
Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police and the ambulance service attended the woman’s property following the reports. She was checked over by paramedics, but was not found to have suffered any serious injuries.
Police have now launched enquiries into the incidents and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or captured relevant footage, to come forward.
The force has not confirmed what the liquid was or whether the two incidents are believed to be connected.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “We have been made aware following a report of a woman having an unknown liquid thrown at her by an occupant of a red car shortly after walking off the Torpoint Ferry on the evening of Monday, August 17.
“The victim further reported that someone from a second, different car - believed to be black - then also threw liquid at her in the Fore Street area. Officers attended the victim's property. She was checked over by the ambulance service but found not to have suffered serious injuries.
“Enquiries into the matter are ongoing.”
Police are urging anyone with information about either incident, including motorists or residents who may have dashcam, doorbell or other footage, to contact them.
