POLICE are warning people to be vigilant after reports of ‘suspicious’ alleged charity collectors in South East Cornwall.

A man and a woman were reported to have been knocking on doors in Golberdon after 8pm on Wednesday October 4.

They stated they were asking for donations and that they needed people’s bank details in order to take money out at a later date.

They had tablets, and were wearing lanyards with RSPCA written on them, say police – but the RSPCA were contacted and said that ‘no-one was collecting in the area’.

A spokesperson for Callington Police said: ‘The RSPCA would not collect at that time of night. They carry clip boards, not tablets, and they always wear RSPCA jackets.

‘The couple are described as being very smartly dressed. The man was white, tall and well dressed, and was well spoken. The woman was described as Indian or Asian, 5’4”. She was very well spoken with a slight London accent.‘

Members of the public have also reported a couple of a similar description in Pensilva.
