LIGHTNING strikes sparked havoc across Cornwall in the early hours.
Dramatic storms caused damage throughout Friday night and Saturday morning.
The Met Office reported ‘thousands’ of lightning strikes.
North and South East Cornwall were badly hit: firefighters from Bude, Callington, Looe, Delabole and Launceston all dealt with lightning strikes to properties and businesses, causing alarms to activate and in some cases starting small fires.
Firefighters from Launceston, Bodmin and Lostwithiel put out a blaze in two stables at Pipers Pool that were hit by lightning.
Homes in Looe were hit by flash floods in the wake of torrential downpours.
Weather forecasters say more thundery downpours could be on the way. Conditions will take a turn for the worse tomorrow when weather warnings are in place for the south.
