Police are searching for a vehicle following a hit and run collision which left a woman dead near Wadebridge early this morning.

A member of the public called police shortly before 4.45am following the discovery of the woman’s body on Trewiston Lane, St Minver.  

Officers believe the 45-year-old local woman may have been hit by a vehicle and are searching for a Landrover Defender type vehicle which would have damage to its lights on the nearside.

The road has been closed and officers from the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit are carrying out a forensic examination of the scene.

The woman’s next of kin has been informed.
