EAST Cornwall’s Search and Rescue team came to the aid of two injured mountain bikers near Minions.
Late on Saturday afternoon, the team received a request from Devon and Cornwall Police to assist the ambulance service with the evacuation of a young man who had fallen from his bike and hit his head on moorland near the village.
Team members used a scoop stretcher and placed the youngster in a vacuum mattress on the Alpine Stretcher.
“While the team was carrying him to the ambulance, a member of the public informed us that a second male had fallen off his mountain bike,” said a spokesperson for East Cornwall Search and Resue.
“Team members made their way to the site of the second casualty. Fortunately the second male was happy to walk back to the vehicle. After being assessed by the attending ambulance crew, both casualties were taken to hospital for further treatment.”
The East Cornwall Search and Rescue Team is reminding the public that in an emergency they should ask Devon and Cornwall Police for Mountain Rescue.
East Cornwall SRT provides an inland search and rescue service for lost, missing and injured people across East Cornwall and further afield when required. It is 100% voluntary and relies on public support to keep the service operational.
