VOLUNTEERS from Looe RNLI sprang into action after two paddleboarders found themselves in difficulty off Hannafore on Thursday (August 13).

The alarm was raised at 5.07pm, with volunteer shore crew quickly launching the relief Atlantic 85 lifeboat Spirit of Cooperation from the Albatross boathouse.

The lifeboat crew raced to the scene and located the pair, helping them back into shallower water before ensuring they were safely returned to shore.

With both paddleboarders out of danger, the crew were stood down and headed back to the station.

The shout also marked a milestone for one of Looe RNLI’s newest volunteers, Tom Mclaren, who took part in his first operational call as a boat crew member.

The crew were praised for their swift response.
