Fire crews from four stations tackle barn blaze in Cornwall

FIRE crews from four stations were involved in tackling a blaze in the Fowey area.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident involving an agricultural barn early on Saturday (September 12) evening.

Smoke could be seen rising into the sky from quite a distant away.

Initially two fire engines, from Fowey and St Austell, were sent to the scene. More help was then called in.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: “On arrival crews confirmed an agricultural building was well alight. Additional resources from Lostwithiel and Liskeard were mobilised.”


In a later update on Saturday night it was reported that good progress was being made dealing with the fire and that crews were remaining at the scene to prevent any further spread.
