Smouldering chemicals sparked a safety alert in a fire during the night.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service crews fighting a blaze in commercial premises in the St Dennis area found an amount of a chemical which was smouldering.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and chemical suits investigated the scene to assess the situation.

The incident was scaled down and specialist teams from the on-site staff were left to deal with the incident. One appliance from St. Dennis stayed in attendance as a precautionary measure.
