Police are urging members of the public to be security conscious during the warmer weather.

Inspector Jane Alford-Mole said: ’At this time there has not been a considerable rise in the number of burglaries taking place but by taking action to secure your property you vastly decrease the chances of becoming a victim of crime.

’There is no need for members of the public to be overly concerned but by taking simple action they can ensure the safety of their property.

’Please check that all doors remain locked and secure, take time to assess the security of your homes.’
