A WEEK of tragic accidents on Cornwall’s crowded roads has sparked a safety warning.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service is urging members of the public to be vigilant and patient whilst driving after a spate of serious accidents.

Chief Fire Officer Paul Walker said: ‘This week has seen crews joining with our partners from Devon and Cornwall Police and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust to attend a number of extremely serious accidents on Cornwall’s roads.

‘’Our thoughts are with families and friends of those who have sadly lost their lives or been seriously injured in these incidents.

‘My important road safety message to residents and visitors to Cornwall is to please drive safely, be patient, leave appropriate stopping distances and please do not use your mobile phones when driving.

‘Please also recognise the rural nature of our roads and likely congestion during the busy summer period and remain motorcycle aware.’

Ensure

With more cars on Cornwall’s roads during the peak summer season, CFRS are calling on drivers to ensure that everyone travelling in their car has their seat belt on.

CFO Walker said drivers should slow down, be patient and extra vigilant and kind to other road users.
