A TOTAL of 23 boats were put to the test in Looe Bay by the club's reserve race team, who stepped in to full the gaps left by the annual pilgrimage to the Redwing Championships.

With the Redwings at Tenby in Pembrokeshire, Wales, the three remaining classes were kept on their toes by an excellent course and a shifty north-westerly wind.

The strong gusts soon took their toll, causing two boats to be towed ashore before the start.

The breeze continued to build throughout the afternoon, and several crews were sent for a swim.
