A Cornish golf student is celebrating after qualifying for the English Schools National Championships.

Megan Giles, who is studying on the Tournament Golf College Development Programme at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, has come second in the South West of England Schools Championships, qualifying her for the Nationals to be held at the Kendleshire Golf Club in Bristol in June.

Playing over two rounds Megan finished with a respectable final score of three over par.

‘The greens were lovely so it was easy to hold putts. The skills I have been working on are starting to come together and I am really looking forward to the finals at the end of June.’

Team lead for sport at Duchy College, Darren Evans, said: ‘This is a great achievement for Megan. She is playing with confidence and consistency and is certainly a credit to the College.’
