Plymouth Argyle kept the ball rolling along nicely as they picked up another away point with a goalless League One draw at second from bottom Bradford City.

Anyone will tell you I am not a stats man.

I do know it’s important for any football side to maintain momentum and confidence – and Derek Adams’ Argyle have managed both since the start of the year.

Midweek results have meant Argyle go into tomorrow’s game – at home to Keith Hill’s Rochdale – in 16th place in the division, slipping down a rung following Accrington Stanley’s 4-2 home win over Oxford United.

It was Stanley’s first win since Boxing Day and came against an Oxford side who kick-started Argyle’s up-turn in fortunes.

Following the emphatic 3-0 New Year’s Day win over Oxford, there have been few grey days for the resurgent Greens and their followers.

Argyle kick off tomorrow four points above Dale, who start the day in 20th place, a place and point above the bottom four.

Although Stanley’s win edged them above Argyle – and Scunthorpe United – it also kept Oxford third from bottom, five points behind the greens with 13 games of the season remaining.

AFC Wimbledon claimed their second win in a row, at Rochdale, thanks to a stoppage time penalty winner.

Joe Piggott’s spot kick conversion in the fifth minute of stoppage time meant the Wombles won 4-3 at Dale.

It also means former Argyle central defender Hill will have his team fired up for tomorrow’s game at Home Park, where the 49-year-old Dale boss was a popular player back in the early 90s before transferring to the club he now manages in 1996. A first team regular, Hill gave the Pilgrims four years’ service, making more than 120 appearances for the Greens.

Tomorrow, Argyle will be seeking a rare double, having already beaten Dale 2-1 away on December 15 after claiming a fortuitous late winner when David Perkins’ back-pass evaded keeper Josh Lillis and gifted the Greens an 80th minute winner in awful playing conditions.

There should be no such concerns for the players tomorrow as the forecast is fair and Home Park playing surface as green as ever.

Expectant Argyle supporters will be hoping for another home win, and the Pilgrims to continue yet another phoenix-like rise from the basement.

C’mon you Greens!
