There you are, sitting eight points clear at the top of the table with four straight wins under your belt, and two successive home games to come, writes Kevin Marriott.
The perfect opportunity to strengthen your stranglehold on the number one spot in Sky Bet League Two. Two nailed-on victories in front of your own supporters.
But those who have been involved in football for long enough will know. Never take anything for granted.
Against all the sensible thinking, Plymouth Argyle end this week smarting from Home Park defeats against promotion-chasing Grimsby (3-0) and mid-table Barnet (2-0).
They had an off day against Grimsby on Saturday, while it is only a consolation that the Pilgrims played well, for the most part, against Barnet on Tuesday evening.
And they appeared to be playing against 12 men. Let’s just say referee Brett Huxtable didn’t have the best of nights.
Argyle manager Derek Adams was frustrated, understandably, and not just with the official.
He felt his side did not defend well in either game, and also missed chances at vital times.
In the cold light of Wednesday, Argyle had lost the two home games and they make the long and arduous journey to Morecambe today needing to get back on track. Their lead at the top has dwindled to three points from second placed Carlisle United.
But this feels like an unfortunate blip rather than anything more concerning. Argyle’s problem now is that they have set their standards high – nothing wrong with that – and fans are expecting them to win games now, especially at home. Good teams respond to that sort of pressure in a positive way. So I expect they will bounce back to form in the far north west tomorrow afternoon. It is also wise to remember we’re not even halfway through the season yet. And no team has ever clinched promotion in November.
