Sometimes watching Plymouth Argyle win at Home Park can be one of those occasions when you want all of your fellow football fan friends to be there, writes Ross Reid.
The Greens’ 4-1 win over Yeovil Town was just such a game. The victory was without doubt the finest moment of table-topping Argyle’s League Two season... so far.
Jimmy Spencer oozed a seemingly new-found confidence following his first goal in green in the 2-0 Tuesday victory at Leyton Orient. The jury is still out on whether the striker’s superb opening goal against Darren Way’s Glovers tops the second half wonder strike by star find Graham Carey. Carey’s cheeky chip made it 3-1, lit up the dark green three quarters of the ground and put Argyle out of reach of a better-than-the-result suggests Yeovil.
In my humble opinion Carey’s goal edges it because he gave Yeovil no 1 Artur Krysiak no chance with a breathtakingly audacious wedge shot from 25 yards after beating and racing away from his midfield marker.
Carey obviously loves playing, and scoring, and it speaks volumes for Argyle boss Derek Adams that he has chosen to build his second term team around the gifted Irish ace.
The manner and margin of victory bodes well for the Pilgrims as they mount another promotion push.
However, if I had a pound for every fan who has mentioned ‘this is just like last season’ or ‘we are peaking too early’ I would be weighed down in gold….
