Striker Natasha Knapman bagged seven goals as Plymouth Argyle Ladies produced a devastating performance to beat St Nicholas 13-0 in the Women’s Premier League South West division one.

Argyle were playing only their second league match this year and knew that to keep the pressure on league leaders Southampton they needed a win, and a big one at that, as the race for promotion could end up being decided on goal difference.

And they started like a house on fire with Knapman pouncing to open the scoring after only 40 seconds after being put through by Dandridge.

Within five minutes it became 2-0 when when Dani Barr appeared at the back post to knock in a Kayley Lane cross.

Knapman made it 3-0 after 10 minutes when she followed up a Darcey Hepworth shot which rebounded off a post.

Knapman went on to score five goals before half-time. She completed her seven-goal haul in the second half, with Zoe Cunningham and Becky Atkins adding doubles. An own goal made up the total.

Argyle manager Travis Rowland rang the changes including giving goalkeeper Sarah Prior her début.

Argyle face their toughest challenge of the season on Sunday when they travel to league leaders Southampton with both teams having won all their league games to date.

Plymouth Argyle’s Development team will be looking to play their first game since Decmber 3 when they travel to Newquay Celtic.

Callington Town 3 Bideford 2

In the South West League Western Division, Callington needed a goal deep into time added on to see off their stubborn North Devon visitors who led the game for a long period at 2-1.

The match was switched to the 3G pitch at Torbridge School and within five minutes Callington opened the scoring through Jodie Shipton.

Bideford’s tactics seemed to be working as they took a 2-1 lead both scored by Bethany Ellis which they kept for some time.

That was until new signing and substitute Chynna Evans came off the bench to grab a brace, the second coming four minutes into time added on.

This win kept up Callington’s 100 per cent winning start to the season and moved them three points clear of inactive Plymouth Argyle Development.

Callington are in Cornwall Cup semi-final action on Sunday when the cup holders travel to Cornwall League outfit Helston Athletic.
