The first inter Badger hockey game was held at Caradon last weekend. With more than 26 players turning up for the game, players were fought over for each mixed team.

Under the guidance of Alf Robert and Zoe Harris teams were selected, each having a mixed range of ages and abilities.

With chairperson Carrina Batten watching over the game, and Alf and Dougie umpiring, the youngsters were soon displaying their skills learnt at training and the adults having to step up a gear to keep up.

Even the non-stop rain didn’t deter the players. The turnout is a testament to the progress and future of the club, with many parents and off-spring playing alongside each other, and more experienced players taking time off from their games to give encouragement and advice to up and coming players.

The Badgers is an important part of Caradon’s future, giving playing time to younger and new players to the game and a chance to gain in-game skill and confidence before moving up to the leagues. A thank you to the umpires and Badgers captains, Alf Roberts and Delia Woodman, and Zoe Harris.
