Artwork created by skaters in memory of a teenager who died earlier this year has been ripped down by vandals. The youngsters worked throughout the summer with local police and a professional artist on boards covered with artwork to brighten up Rapsons Park and dedicated some of the work to 13-year-old Jesse Stevens.

Ten of the 25 boards erected at the skateboard park were pulled down over the weekend and one has been damaged.

Liskeard Sgt Jo Williams said: 'Ten of the panels, including the one with Jesse's name on, were pulled down and one was defaced. The boards have been put back up and we are going to try to sort out the one that was damaged. The people involved in the project are quite upset and the people who use the park are disgusted with what has happened.'

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

It is hoped the last phase of the skateboard park art project will be completed at the end of next month.
