PARENTS are being urged to remind their children about staying safe around construction areas as work gets underway at a public connivence in Looe.
Looe Town Council has issued a timely reminder that children should keep away from the scaffolding and fencing that is currently in place at the toilets on the East Looe beach promenade.
Parents and carers are being reminded to highlight the dangers associated with construction zones and restricted spaces in an effort to make sure youngsters stay clear of any danger.
The toilets at the seafront were closed after a large group committed anti-social behaviour and criminal damage, including graffiti, in the gents’ toilets earlier this month.
The town council has confirmed to members of the public that its CCTV cameras will keep running throughout the works.
A spokesperson from Looe Town Council said: “With roof works and scaffolding in place on the seafront toilets, we'd like to remind everyone that these areas can be dangerous, particularly after dark.
“Parents and carers are encouraged to talk to children and young people about the importance of keeping away from scaffolding, construction areas and restricted spaces.
“Our CCTV cameras will remain in operation so we will be able to identify anyone who enters the area.
“Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe while these works are carried out.”
