Torpoint Rowing Club Regatta

In ideal weather conditions, 9 rowing crews competed in the Torpoint Rowing Club's annual regatta on Saturday, with the Plymouth RN crew failing to show up and Paignton club unable to compete.

Overall winners were Dartmouth with 12 points, with Torpoint and Torquay coming a close joint second, with 10 points each. Four of the crews gained nine points each, and two gained eight, making for a closely-fought and equally-matched contest.

The cups were presented by Mayor of Torpoint Bob Cross and Mary Hughes of the Ferryboat Entertainers presented one of them on behalf of members who donated a cup to the Rowing Club in gratitude for being offered rehearsal space in the boat house.

Winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) were: Men's Senior A, Bideford blues, Dart/Totnes, Dartmouth; Mens Senior B, Plymouth, Bideford blues; Ladies' Novice, Plymouth, Torquay; Men's Senior C, Dart/Totnes, Exeter, Bideford blues, Bideford blues; Ladies' Senior C, Dart/Totnes, Exeter, Torpoint; Ladies' Under 18, Bideford reds, Plymouth, Bideford blues; Men's Novice, Exeter, Castledore; Men's Senior C Skulls, Dartmouth, Torpoint, Torquay; Men's Senior B Skulls, Torquay, Bideford reds; Ladies' Novice Skulls, Castledore; Men's U18 Skulls, Torpoint, Exeter, Castledore; Men's Novice Skulls, Bideford reds; Men's Snr A Coxless, Torquay, Dartmouth; Mixed Snr C, Dartmouth, Torpoint, Castledore; Mixed Novice, Bideford reds, Castledore, Torquay; Men's Open 8, Dartmouth, Torpoint.
