THREE years of hard work has paid off for two members of Torpoint Community Fire Station who have now become fully competent firefighters.

Lee Shepherd and James Dart, who are part of Torpoint’s 13-strong crew of on-call firefighters, completed their final stage review with Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service following countless hours of training.

Competent firefighters are skilled in using the most modern equipment, methods and techniques to undertake the full range of emergencies that they are called upon to deal with.

A Torpoint Community Fire Station spokesperson said: “After three years of hard work and dedication to Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service, Lee Shepherd and James Dart have completed their final stage review and become fully competent firefighters.

“For the past 3 years, Shepherd and Dart have upheld the meaning and standards of what it takes to become an on-call firefighter, and have put in countless hours of on-the-job and task book training, all culminating in their final stage review.

“Torpoint’s 13-strong crew of on-call firefighters continues to grow in experience, knowledge and capability, strengthening the station and the service we provide to our local community.

“A huge congratulations to Lee and James on a fantastic achievement. Your hard work, commitment and dedication have certainly paid off. Welcome to the crew of competent firefighters, lads!”
