A CALLINGTON youngster has presented £9,000 to Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) following a year of fundraising activities.
Jonny Burnard, 15, took part in a 110-mile 'Walk with Pride' along with his dad, Callington Lions president Andy Burnard, and grandfather Terry.
The walk formed the centrepiece of the year's fundraising and brought in a total sponsorship of £3,440. The trio were supported on their hike through Cornwall by several of the county's Lions Clubs.
The remainder of the money was raised during activities such as a Methodist Big Breakfast in Callington, collections at the town's supermarkets, and a sponsored cycle event at St Mellion International Golf Resort.
Jonny said he would like to thank his family and everyone who had helped during the year. Special thanks were also expressed to South East Cornwall MP Sheryll Murray, who was present at the start of the walk, for her support throughout the venture. Mrs Murray is Lion president for the Palace of Westminster.
