Motorists will have to pay 50 per cent extra to cross the River Tamar from today. Despite a major public outcry when the proposals were announced, tolls on the Tamar Bridge and Torpoint Ferry crossings have been increased. Car drivers wanting to cross into Devon will now have to pay £1.50 rather than £1 and those with a TamarTag will be charged 75p instead of 50p.
