LISKEARD Town Council has voted to adopt the national Living Wage as a minimum for its employees.

The Living Wage is £8.75 per hour, as compared to the national minimum wage, which for those 25 and over will be £7.83 per hour as of April this year.

The local council joins Cornwall Council and 3800 employers across the UK who have adopted the higher rate.

The increase in staffing costs related to the Living Wage will be paid for from savings, said the Town Council.
