POLICE are advising people to take extra care tomorrow morning, Monday, February 8.

Heavy rain and strong winds with gusts of between 60 and 70 mph are likely from 3am on Monday.

As a result, traffic disruption is expected due to fallen trees and flooded roads, said Devon and Cornwall Police.

Motorists have been asked to drive carefully, allow extra time for their journeys and avoid all flooded areas.

People have also been warned to stay away from coastal areas because abnormally large waves are expected. Householders should check outdoor bins and other items in the garden are secure.

Up to date information on traffic and travel disruption can be found on the police website (traffic watch) as well as Highways, National Rail and other sources’ websites and social media accounts.
