The Lost Gardens of Heligan is planning to stage its own tribute to the return of Poldark today – gardening staff are due to scythe the flax field and, say managers, intend doing it stripped to the waist a la Aidan Turner.

The historic gardens near Mevagissey are also due to take delivery of a new flock of rare Valais Blacknose sheep, a threatened Swiss breed.

Poldark returns to BBC1 on Sunday.
