A gusting offshore breeze in Looe Bay on Saturday caused gear failure for crews, and a couple of boats returned to the safety of the beach to carry out repairs. The start was delayed due to a wind-shift, meaning that Race Officer Brian Carvey had to move the course to the West.

Another Bowdler sibling, Esther, with Austin Rudd crewing, stuck to the challenge and finished a close second, while Billy and Joe Palfrey in their new boat  Whatever – still fine-tuning their craft – filled third and look a promising bet for the rest of the season.
