A theatrical experience that simulates life in the trenches is being held at Levant Mine near St Just this July.

Produced by Collective Arts Ltd to mark the 100th anniversary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme, The Trench runs from Friday, July 1 to Sunday, July 10.

Using an area of ‘No Man’s Land’ industrial landscape, the production will involve the ‘enlisted’ audience exploring and celebrating the lives of Cornish miners serving on the Front Line during the First World War.

Participants will be given a real identity and taken to the trenches to discover for themselves the realities of life on the Western Front and the build up to going ‘over the top’, before learning the fate of their character in an exhibition curated by the National Trust that will be open until the end of August.
