RESURFACING work is set to take place at two Millbrook car parks, with motorists warned that access will be restricted while the improvements are carried out.

Millbrook Parish Council has confirmed that Cormac will carry out resurfacing works at the Village Hall and Greenland car parks.

The works are expected to take two days, with the first day involving the removal and cutting out of existing damaged patches before new surfacing is laid on the second day.

The car parks will need to be closed to the public during the working day because of the size of the machinery required and the dust generated while the existing road surface is removed.

Cormac’s site agent said contractors are expected to be on site from 7am, although noisy works will not begin until 8am.

The resurfacing patches should be sufficiently cool for vehicles to drive over from around 4pm onwards, meaning the car park will be available for use during the evening.

However, motorists are being advised to take care when returning to the car park as there will be temporary surfaces and level differences while the work is completed.

Pedestrian access to both the pharmacists and Village Hall will be maintained throughout the works.

Cormac has also said that its site operatives will accommodate vehicular access for less mobile people wherever possible.

The parish council has issued the update to residents after yellow markings appeared in the Village Hall and Greenland car parks, indicating the areas where the resurfacing work is planned.

Residents and visitors are being asked to take note of the temporary restrictions and allow extra care when using the areas while the work is under way.

The works are expected to be completed over the two-day period, weather and site conditions permitting.
