The top table clash between Section A leaders Fountain Lions and the Market resulted in a win for Fountain who now enjoy a four point lead over the Market.
Fountain Lions started slowly against Market losing the first three games. They were behind 8-7 going into the last round but won all three games to take the points. Rod and Ivan Olver won four, Andy Maslem and Alan Wyatt, Mark Hancock and Ian Runnalls all won three for the Lions. Jim Kelly and Frankie Powell, Rob Trevarthen and Simon Harris all won three for the Market.
Garrison were always ahead against London and went into the last round 9-6 ahead. London won two of the last three but lost 10-8. Terry Lobb and Trevor Burton top scored for Garrison with five, John Saunter and Chris Black-borow won three for the Garrison. Larry Penter and Dougie Knight won four for the London.
Dobsons recorded a 12-6 away win over Highway A. The games were level at three all but then Dobsons won nine of the last 12 games. All pairs for Dobsons won four each. Peter Anthony and Gerald McDonald, Jennie Anthony and Rob Pearson all won with Ian Wilton and Simon Putt being brushed.
Police Club returned to winning ways with a 12-6 away win over Con Club. Police stormed into a 7-2 lead and never looked back. All pairs won four each for Police Club. James Wheeler and Roger Gorrie top scored for Con Club.
Wheal Tor fought a close game against St Neot A and ended all square. Colleen Bolitho and S Sandercock won four for Wheal Tor. Bill Miners and Dave Cock also won four for St Neot A.
Highway C went into a 6-3 lead over Legion B. Highway then went into the last round leading 9-6. Michelle and Sharon won four including the deciding game to record a 10-8 win. Nigel Williams and Francis Julian top scored for Highway with Les Dennis and Bob Fricker, John Brice and Alan White all won three for Legion B.
In Section B White Horse increase their lead to three points as both nearest challengers White Hart A and B lose. White Horse won convincingly against Barley B. White Horse went into a 6-3 lead after three rounds and then repeated the score in the second half to win 12-6. George Keast and Phil Kurn won five, Steve Hawes and Nobby Clark won four for White Horse. Jamie Sweetlove and Amanda Gillmore top scored for Barley B with four.
White Hart A met an inform Market B team. Market went into a 7-2 lead and won the game 14-4. N White and L Lawrence won all six, Shirley Vine and A Cooper won five for Market. John Thomas and Taff Lewis top scored for White Hart A with three, R Bettison and K Allen were brushed.
White Hart B stay in third spot despite losing to Lord Eliot. Lord Eliot went 7-5 up and then won five of the last six games to run out 12-6 winners. Ian Gill and John Bartlett, Doug Braidwood and Nina Haynes, Tris Mutton and Stu Braidwood all won four for the Eliot.
Cheesewring drew a tight match against Police B. Cheesewring went 4-2 up before Police came back winning all three games in the third round. Kevin Gregory and Helen Windmill, Dawn Gregory and Jan Mitchell all won four for Cheesewring. J Clemes and P Mills top scored for Police B with four.
Barley A recorded their second win by winning the last three games in round six to come from behind and win 10-8 against Legion C. Pete Stewart and Duane Goode won five, Bill Denning and Rich Freeman won three for Barley A. Jim Rodda and Brian Clift won four for Legion C.
It is with much sadness that we record the death of Derek Anderson. Derek played for many years in our league both for the Market and the Stag at St Cleer. We shall all miss his enthusiasm and his sense of fun when he played his cards.
