EDF ENERGY JUNIOR VASE THIRD ROUND (SOUTH WEST)
Liskeard-Looe 56
Salcombe 0
LISKEARD-LOOE eased past their Devon One
opponents by running in nine tries to reach the fourth round.
They had established a 25-0 advantage at the break, and piled on even more agony in the second half for Salcombe, who were outclassed apart from a ten-minute patch in the run-up to half-time, when they threatened the hosts' line.
Liskeard led 17-0 after only 17 minutes, with centre Baz Hocking running in a try after a line-out with only two minutes gone on the clock; fellow midfield man Tristan Moon finishing off a three-quarter move; and left wing Ian Hick also crossing, with Hocking adding one conversion.
Hocking then slotted a penalty, before lock Adam Driver popped up on the wing to round off another nice move to give Liskeard-Looe a 25-point lead.
Five minutes into the second period, full-back James Johnson joined the line to score, with Hocking adding the extras, and from the kick-off, Driver caught the ball and passed out to Hocking, who ran 45 yards and beat numerous defenders to score under the posts for his second try to make it 37-0.
Liskeard-Looe used their replacements bench, with Bob Bettison, Chris Sobey and Glen Beaver all coming on, but they continued their scoring spree, with Hick grabbing his second touchdown of the game, and Hocking converting for a personal 19-point haul.
Right-wing Sam Grant then got in on the scoring act, and scrum half Dan Goodman completed the rout just before the end, with fly-half Andy Sheer converting.
Liskeard return to Cornwall One action tomorrow when they travel to face their bogey side Stithians – who they have also been drawn against in the fourth round of the Cup, to be played at Stithians on Saturday, November 22.
