In the Cornish Times newsroom we’ve produced three packed editions of your favourite local paper packed with news and pictures: the main edition, and the recently launched Saltash and Bodmin editions.

The main edition leads with the story that a planning application has been submitted for new flats on the currently empty hillside site in Looe where a pensioner lost her life when her home was hit by a landslide in 2013. Cornwall Council has since carried out major works to improve drainage in the area and neighbours say they now feel safer. This edition also has the news that Liskeard Town Council has now declared itself ready to do its part to help combat the climate change crisis with a variety of new plans.

The Saltash edition leads with the story that a new drinks factory in the town is creating new jobs – as well as bringing back a historic brand name to Cornwall and tapping into a natural spring that was discovered 40 metres below the factory site. This edition also has details of taster days allowing Saltash residents to sample activities helping to boost healthier living.

The Bodmin edition leads with the story that a trust has been given Cornwall Council go-ahead to convert its manor farm property into a centre of well-being bringing the message that being in contact with nature is good for your health. This edition also has pictures from the Bodmin Wassailers’ annual tour of the town raising money for local charities – one of the oldest recorded traditions in the country.

Appearing in all editions is a ‘vox pop’ feature where our reporter Kerenza Moore has asked people from around South East Cornwall about their hopes and fears for the future as we enter a new decade. In addition, a new feature called Primary School Voice is giving children from primary schools around the area to have their voices heard – this week pupils of Callington Primary School have written letters aimed at informing local people about the climate change issue.

We also have a special history feature from the author of a new book about how in the Middle Ages Cornwall’s coastline was targeted by not only pirates but also full-scale French-led invasion attempts – with troops taking part coming from as far away as Genoa in Italy and Monaco.

This week’s editions also have details of an event at the Old Sardine Factory in Looe where wartime memories and photographs will be shared. We also report on the favourable feedback received regarding the plans for workshop facilities on Liskeard’s cattle market site, have pictures from the same town’s new police station, and have details of a new ceramic mural in Gunnislake which showcases the artistic talents of local people as well as the area’s mines heritage.

We have pictures, reviews and previews from some of the panto productions being staged in the area, plus details of the Carn to Cove theatre and music productions due to be staged at a variety of local venues. We also have a competition in which five lucky winners will receive pairs of tickets to the Caravan and Motorhome Show at Exeter’s Westpoint venue.

As ever, we also have lots of your community news and pictures and regular columns such as Ray Roberts’ Nature Watch, your Letters, TV Choice and the latest Books.

There are also Farming & Equestrian, Property and Motoring pages and 10 packed pages of Sport. Find all of this and more in this week’s Cornish Times editions, in shops from today (Friday).
