With Kevin Walsh (work) Leigh Underhay (ankle) and Mat Penry (unwell) missing a depleted Ashes side took on second placed Blazey. 17-year-old Paul Madden made his debut for the Saltash first team and did well against the experienced opposition.
St. Blazey started well with Gary Dyer much in evidence. They went 1-0 up in the 19th minute when Glyn Hooper and Matt Parsons combined well with Gary Dyer who scored. Dyer headed home the second goal in the 31st minute following up on a cross from Hooper.
Saltash proved more lively in the second half with Nathan Blamey forcing a good save from Dave Philp after a free kick was awarded to the Ashes when Nigel Pugh brought down Mike Southgate on the edge of the box in the 58th minute. St. Blazey made it 3-0 in the 66th minute when Glyn Hooper shot home a cross from the left wing. Charles West pulled off a trio of saves in the 78th minute two from point blank range and a third close up from Hooper.
With Falmouth Town only able to draw with Tavistock this result put St. Blazey back on top of the league.
