BRAVE fundraisers who took a dip in the sea on New Year's Day have been awarded for their efforts. The Torpoint and Rame Peninsula Lions Club has held a presentation evening at the Finnygook Inn, Crafthole. They presented trophies to fundraisers who took part in their fourth New Year's Day Dip at Cawsand and presented cheques totalling almost £9,000 to more than 20 charities and local groups. The winners of awards for 2006 were: n Tamar Systems Trophy for most individual sponsorship, Andy Campfield who raised £670. n Trobridges Trophy for most sponsorship by a team, Ground Force, Wilcove. They raised almost £1,000. n The Shipshape Trophy for best individual fancy dress, Amy Blake, Millbrook. n Print Options Trophy for best team fancy dress, Ancient and Modern, Liskeard Lions Club. n The Wheelers Cup for Best Pub Team fancy dress, Bobbin Hood and his Beery Men of Halfway Harmony, Halfway House, Kingsand. Charities who benefited from the dip included: Breast Cancer Care, Children in Need, RSPCA, Chernobyl Children, St Luke's Hospice, Macmillan, British Liver Trust, BLESMA, Torpoint St John Nursing Cadets, CLIC, Air Ambulance, CHAT, Downderry playgroup, Torpoint band hut playgroup, Wilcove Village Hall, Kingfisher pre- school, Whitsand Bay Lifesaving Club, Fourlanesend PTA and First Responders.
