A NEW locals’ discount card is giving Cornish residents 20% off entry to all Better Leisure facilities in the county.

The Cornwall Card is free to residents until August 31 and offers discount on all leisure activities, including swimming, soft play and trampolining.

James Curry is head of service for Cornwall GLL, the not-for-profit social enterprise that runs the centres.

He said: “At a time when the health and wellbeing of everyone is so important, we are delighted to be able to offer this discount card for local people of all ages. With the school holidays fast approaching, 20% off a swim, gym, or trampolining session should be very appealing to the communities we support.”

Paralymians David Wetherill and Melissa Reid were set to officially launch the Cornwall Card in Newquay yesterday (Tuesday).

Cornwall Councillor Richard Pears, Portfolio Holder for Customers, said: “This is a great opportunity for residents to get back to enjoying the activities they missed during lockdown. Cornwall Council and GLL are committed to providing affordable activities for all residents and I urge people to take advantage of the Cornwall Card offer.”

The Cornwall card is free to all Cornish residents until the end of August 2021, and will then cost £20 for adults, and £10 for children.

All existing pay and play members will automatically move on to the ‘Cornwall Card’.

To apply for the discount card, go to www.better.org.uk/leisure-centre/cornwall , or visit a local BETTER leisure centre.

Card holders will have access to member-only activities and courses, and can book activities up to seven days in advance on the BETTER UK app
