A MAN who enjoys gardening has been awarded a prize for his allotment – for the 12th time. Albert Dinner, from Callington, has entered his small allotment in the Callington Allotment Competition for 14 years, and has only missed out on the trophy twice. The Small Trophy Shield for the best kept small allotment was awarded to Albert at the Autumn Show on Saturday, September 15. The competition has been organised by the council for many years to encourage 'good cultivation and the productive use of the allotments'. Each of the areas are judged together and prizes are awarded for three separate categories – best small, medium and large allotments. Albert, who missed out on the award for the second time in 2005 due to an operation, really enjoys keeping his allotment in good condition.
