FOUR friends who took part in a “Big Golf Race” have raised £1800 for Prostate Cancer UK.

Paul Lecount, Paul Bray, Dickie Courts and Martin Thomas set off on the course at Trethorne Golf club just after 5am and played their last of 72 holes just after 6.30 that evening.

“The challenge was to play four rounds of golf in one day, and we have been fund raising for about three months and have raised roughly £1800 for this great cause,” said Paul Lecount, who’s from St Germans.

“The weather wasn’t great - it was wet all day - but we really enjoyed the day and the golf club looked after us all really well with food and drinks. We’d like to thank everybody that donated to us.”

During the time it took the team to play their four rounds of golf, 18 men in the UK would have died from prostate cancer, says the charity.

It organised the Big Golf Challenge to help “keep men in the game longer”.

Prostate Cancer UK not only provides specialist nurses and support for men suffering from the disease and their families, it also funds the breakthrough research that is improving diagnosis and treatments.
