Liskeard Ploughman’s Festival, billed as a festival of ‘Beer, Food and Music’, will take place on Saturday, August 13.

The Liskeard Traders’ Association will also be joining in the fun, which is once again free for everyone to enjoy.

Its members have joined in the spirit of the festival by adding to the day with a scarecrow competition taking place in Fore Street, where some hay bales and country style music will add to the atmosphere, and also in The Parade.

Everyone is invited to either dress up as a scarecrow or to build a scarecrow.

A best scarecrow will be chosen and there will be a grand parade around the town centre.

Entry forms are available in the pannier market.

Organisers hope that as many scarecrows as possible will turn up to add to the atmosphere of the day, and that they will afterwards go to the live music event due to take place in Westbourne Gardens from midday to 7pm.

The two music stages are being sponsored by Trago Mills and the Cornish Times, and there will be a ‘silent disco’ for youngsters, sponsored by Caunters.

There will be a beer tent, named The Ploughman’s Rest, supported by the event’s main sponsors, The Albion pub, along with food stalls.

On The Parade from 10am-2pm, there will be a Cornish food market with a chance to view some live honey bees at work.
