Lanhydrock v Tideford

Lanhydrock won the toss and put Tideford into bat beneath overcast skies and the ever-present threat of rain. Tideford began briskly reaching 54 in 10 overs when Mark Lister skied Sturtridge to mid-off and departed with 34. Gerry Snowdon and Dave Lockett continued to consolidate adding another 147 between them to bring up 200 by the 34th over and were particularly severe on Beer's brief spell.

Snowdon eventually fell to the bowling of Stadler for a sound 74. Lockett preserved to complete his century in particularly with Luiten, falling for 108 off 117 balls to another skied catch to mid-off. Luiten and Lindfield added a few more, but when Lindfield was clean bowled by Gill, Tideford declared their innings on 259-4 after 42 overs.

Lanhydrock's Beer and Smart batted aggressively, against the bowling of Copp and Kinsey, maintaining a run rate more than sufficient to overtake the target. However, in an optimistic moment of madness in the 16th over, Beer was run out for 24 with the score on 56.

Sturtridge remained briefly at the crease before he too, fell to the excellent Tideford fielding, stranded part way up the pitch with an incomplete run. Copp bowled Harris for 2, Kinsey had Gill caught brilliantly by Burn in the slips and then Sloggett faltered, mid-pitch to allow Sandy Bradbeer to run from gully and remove the bails.

From 56-0 Lanhydrock slumped to 69-5. Opener Smart was eventually bowled, seventh wicket down, by Kinsey for 28 and Austin made the same score before he ran out of partners. The inning closed on 111, Kinsey removing 4-63 off 16 overs.
