TWO people who previously ran a business in Tywardreath are facing numerous fraud charges, with one of them allegedly misleading people into believing they would donate £1-million of personal assets to support a local scheme.

Josh Taylor, 36, of Prestwick Lane, Grayswood, Hazelmere and Trudy Thompson, 55, of Henley Fort Bungalows, The Mount, Guildford who have received a number of fraud charges relating to a time when they ran a business in Tywardreath near Par.

The charges include Taylor allegedly committing fraud by false representation to obtain £33,200 from Par Bay Big Local which he claimed would be used for a bike hire business and entrepreneurial training course.

Thompson is alleged to have made false representations to villagers in Tywardreath that she was intending to donate £1-million of her personal assets to support the Tywardreath Village Scheme and made false representations for the purpose of getting a loan, claiming she had a trust fund and owned two houses in Guildford, which was untrue, intending to expose a woman to risk losing £20,000.

They will stand trial at Truro Crown Court on September 7.

The hearing is estimated to take place over a number of weeks.
