TWO people originally due to stand trial at Truro Crown Court on September 7 for a number of fraud charges relating to their time at Tywardreath Village Shop, will not be heard now until 2028 after the courts deferred the hearing.

Josh Taylor, 36, of Prestwick Lane, Grayswood, Hazelmere and Trudy Thompson, 55, of Henley Fort Bungalows, The Mount, Guildford launched a crowdfunder with the intention of purchasing Tywardreath shop and Elmswood House B&B for the benefit of the community. However, the duo are facing trial on allegations of numerous fraud charges.

It is alleged that Taylor committed fraud by false representation to obtain £33,200 from Par Bay Big Local which he claimed would be used for a bike hire business and entrepreneurial training course.

Thompson is alleged to have made false representations to villagers in Tywardreath that she was intending to donate £1-million of her personal assets to support the Tywardreath Village Scheme and made false representations for the purpose of getting a loan, claiming she had a trust fund and owned two houses in Guildford, which was untrue, intending to expose a woman to risk losing £20,000.

They will now stand trial at Truro Crown Court on January 10, 2028.

The hearing is still estimated to take place over a number of weeks.
